Cork pinboard makeover – create your own pinboard
Whether for photos, postcards, tickets or appointment slips: a cork pinboard is the ideal way to keep memories, notes and beautiful things in one place. However, a brown cork pinboard doesn’t necessarily suit every interior design. It only takes a few simple steps to give pinboards a personalised look and adapt them to your own interior style. Whether round, square or rectangular, small or XL, for the kitchen or children’s room, discreet and monochrome or colourful and wildly patterned: by applying a beautiful fabric of your choice, the simple cork board becomes a stylish and individual piece on which your notes, pins, pictures or other bits and bobs are always perfectly in sight. In the following how to create your own personal pinboard in a few easy steps.

- Pointed scissors
Instructions
Remove the connecting clip
First, the wooden frame must be removed from the cork board. Slide the blade of a cutter knife into the gap at one corner and carefully knock out the connecting clip with a hammer.
Remove the wooden frame
As soon as the clip on the back of the pinboard peeks out, you can pull it out with pliers. Then carefully remove the cork board without damaging the frame.
Prepare the fabric
Place the pinboard on the fabric (iron it first for a tight cover) and cut the fabric in size by using multipurpose scissors. You will need approx. 4-5 cm additional fabric on each side so that it can be attached securely at the back.
Staple the fabric
Now staple the fabric all the way round. Start with the sides and pull the fabric a little taut so that it lies smoothly on the surface. You can braid the fabric at the back for a nice finish. Then fix the fabric that still sticks out at the corners.
Place the board in the frame
Carefully place the board back into the frame and close the open side with a staple.
Attach the hook and screw on the furniture knob
Cut a small slit in the fabric where the hook should be and then simply drill a hole in the cork board with the scissors. Make sure that the slit is big enough so that it is completely covered by the hook later. Now all you need to do is screw on the furniture knob and your pinboard is ready.
