Like most of us, you probably have a wooden stool or chair at home just waiting to be prettied up. Why not turn it into a cosy seat and give it a new look with a trendy, cuddly soft plush cover? All you need are a few materials and a little time. You’ll love the result. Just give it a try with the simple step-by-step instructions prepared for you by Lisa from the Dekotopia blog!
You need:
- Stool
- Foam pad, about 50 x 50 x 5 cm
- DAHLE 10875 all-purpose cutter
- DAHLE 10691 cutting mat
- Hot glue
- DAHLE 50038 all-purpose scissors
- NOVUS J-29 stapler
- Plush fabric, about 50 x 50 cm
Step 1:
Place the seat of your stool onto your foam pad and trace the shape with a cutter. Then glue your trimmed foam pad onto the seat with hot glue. Be sure it fits the shape perfectly.
Step 2:
Roughly cut the plush fabric to size with the all-purpose scissors and leave a generous edge for folding under. Now fold the fabric around the seat and staple it along the edge of the underside. Be sure to pull it nice and taunt so there are no unwanted creases. To cover the rounded areas, you need to fold the fabric, pull it tight and staple it. It’s better to make several small folds rather than one big one, because the smaller ones will not be visible later. Now you can trim off any extra fabric, fold the edges under and staple them down as well. That gives you a clean edge.
